UK Scrappers 2014 Summer Scrapbooking Challenge...

Morning Everyone!

I have finished off some more of the UKS 2014 Summer Scrapbooking Challenges that my lovely crafty friend Niki set iso now only have 4 more to do... and I have until the end of Sept to finish them off so should get them all completed!

This layout was for Challenge #3 which had me stamping the background for my layout, I just picked out a variety of words and symbol stamps and stamped away. It was actually fun to do and I am happy with how it turned out.

A close up of the stamped background...

My next layout is for Challenge #4 and we had to use frames, ink or mists and Project Life cards.

Here is the frame I used...

The ink and mists...

And the Project Life cards (homemade)...

Challenge #5 was to follow a sketch and use typography (like a Project Life card)...

The Project Life card I used was perfect to go with our wedding photo...

My final layout was for Challenge #8 and we had to follow a sketch...

I added a couple of extra photos as I had so many of our nephew Ralph at his 1st birthday party that I wanted to use them all...

UK Scrappers Simple Recipes Challenge - August...

Hi Everyone,

This is my layout for the UK Scrappers Simple Recipes Challenge for August. We were given a list of options to use but didn't manage to use them all. I chose to work with the colour scheme and I struggled with the sketch but did an interpretation of it!

The photo is my husband Lee on the beach at Wembury in Devon. We were staying at Langdon Court Hotel for our friend's Andy and Gen's wedding last month. As we were there for 2 nights we decided to take a walk down to the beach and as you can see from the journaling it was a little further than we were expecting!

UKScrappers 2014 Summer Scrapbooking Challenge...

Morning Everyone!

My lovely crafty friend Niki is hosting the Summer Scrapbooking Challenge over at UK Scrappers. She has posted 10 different challenges that you have until the end of September to complete. There are loads of fab ideas and if like me you have limited time they are great for kick-starting a layout idea quickly!

Challenge #1 - follow a sketch...

And this is my layout...

Challenge #2 - Happy Days of Summer...
We had to use a summery colour scheme or summer related photos, so I used bright colours to scrap this summer photo of me and Lee cooling our feet at Wembury beach...

UK Scrappers August Challenges...

Hi Everyone!

I have managed to do 2 of the UKS challenges so far this month. The first is the Week 2 challenge, and we were tasked with using a one word title, something yellow and to include flowers or insects. This is what I came up with...

The next layout was for the August House Challenge, we had to use a large photo (5" x 7" or bigger), 4 x patterned papers, tags or journal cards, a pinch of green and some buttons or beads.

GoGo Getaway - Aquarelle Adventures...

Hi Everyone!

I went on a mini retreat with my lovely crafty friend Niki to Wanborough (near Swindon) with GoGo Getaway last month. It was called Aquarelle Adventures and as the name suggests was based around watercolours and painting! Not my normal style but I do like to try new techniques and GoGo are great for this. We did 3 x layouts, a mini album and box and for all of them used the lovely Prima 'Free Spirit' range of papers and embellishments.

This was our first class with Sam Ball, a double layout featuring one large photos and a couple of small ones. We had fun adding paint using a dry brush, an old credit card and paint tube lids...brought out the messy child in you!

We added some subtle stamping using a Prima floral stamp and light gray ink..

Our next class was with the lovely Sheena Rowland and we made a fabby mini album with lots of lift up flaps and hidden journaling...

And the box that we decorated to hold the mini album (it started off life as the watercolour paint set that we received!)...

Next on the agenda was another Sam Ball class featuring another double layout. We had to mix the colours for the background as we went so that it created a graduated wash of complementary colours.

We had to splatter paint as well, and add embossing powder to artist medium to create the glossy bumps.

Sheena was back with a single layout class, we used a Heidi Swapp stencil to cut out sunrays from a piece of white card. This then went over the painted background to create a lovely colourful sunburst.

We added rock salt once we had painted to add a different texture to some of the painted rays.

And we couldn't finish off without making a card...

We added some stamped flowers...

And some watercoloured panels...

Another fab weekend from Janice and Lorraine at GoGo! Looking forward to the next retreat for more fab classes :-)
