Hope you can play along too, look forward to seeing your versions of 'Photo Love'....

Visiting Freddie!

Just back from a lovely weekend away with Steve, Kirsty and their very cute son Freddie! I had to post some pics from the weekend as Freddie really doesn't stop smiling and is the sweetest. Lee and I are lucky to be his Godparents though don't get as much time to see him as we would like as they don't live near us. Hence plenty of photos taken which will provide some great content for my scrapbooking!

Simply Stampin' Challenge - Theme (Anything but a Card)

This week's challenge over at Simply Stampin' Challenge is a theme challenge - 'Anything but a Card'. I was going to go with a scrapbook page but then saw this cute gift idea by Lori Tecler in the US Papercrafts magazine 350 Cards & Gifts so decided to give it a go. I bought some plain white tealights and to decorate them I stamped each of the four fruit designs onto white tissue paper. I then punched each one out with a circle punch. To make them easier to punch, back each one with a heavier weight of card. Then punch a small hole in the centre of each with the Crop-A-Dile and place over the wick of the tealight. Using a pair of tweezers to hold the tissue paper in place I then heated it with the Heat Tool so that it melts the image onto the tealight (be careful as the metal rim of the tealight does get hot!). I changed up the colours and stamps but otherwise kept to the design, I am really happy with how it turned out and can see myself making more of these for gifts!

Products used (all by Stampin' Up! unless specified):
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Markers: Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Old Olive Button
Stamp Sets: Tart & Tangy, Fresh Cuts
Other: Bakers Twine, white Tissue Paper, Tealights
Look forward to seeing all of the entries for this week's challenge, hope you can join in!

Birthday cards...

Thought I would share some of the fab handmade birthday cards that I received...

This first one is from my mum who lives in Australia and who I definitely get my crafty genes from! Loving the colours, very me!

The next lovely card is from my MIL Sue who I introduced to card-making a few years ago, she now has a little craft room of her own!
And the final one is from Kath who comes along to Niki's Saturday morning Craft Club every week, she didn't do stamping when she first started but has done a fab job on this card!

There was another one from Niki but I can't show that one as she will be using it as one of her Design Team entries on Simply Stampin' Challenge  in the coming weeks!

More scrapbooking...

Here are a few more layouts that I did at one of Niki's classes. I met Niki about a year ago through Stampin' Up! as she is a Demo and I use a lot of their products! She runs a weekly Craft Club, and once a month she also holds an afternoon Card Class. Along with this she holds a day long scrapbook class and these layouts were from one of these classes...

Scrapbooking...

A few years ago I discovered craft retreats where you get to scrapbook all weekend so I started to go to the GoGo Getaway weekends run by ScrapaGoGo and love them! Met some fab people who all have the same thing in common... a love of scrapbooking and it's really nice to talk to others who love pretty papers as much as you do! I thought I would share some of the layouts that I did at the last Getaway and GoGo to You Day...

And a close up shot of the embellishments that we made.. using alcohol inks, acetate and slide mounts.

This one below was for a challenge that we did late one night. We were given a photo of ourselves that was taken earlier and then we were all given a random kit to work with. I ended up with some very bight pink cardstock so as I am not really a pink girl I painted it with cream paint and was very pleased with the end result.

 And a close up shot.....
