GoGo Getaway March 2013...

Hi Everyone,

Be warned photo heavy post!!

I am back to normal now after another fab weekend at GoGo Getaway! It started off with Jean and I driving the massive journey from Junction 22 (M25) to Junction 25... we are very lucky that GoGo is on our doorstep at Theobalds Park in Cheshunt as one of the ladies flies in from Jersey! We checked in and then it was time for a quick drink before my photo shoot with Cheryl Johnson...

Then it all begins and we make the move into the main crop room with all of our stuff. Yummy chocs and info for the weekend are awaiting us at our places.

Nice to be sitting with some of the girls that I have met over the past few years... the 2 Wendys, Snow, Niki, Andrea, Liane and Sarah.

And lovely to catch up with Dawn again who I met at the first ever scrapping retreat I went to! It was really nice to also meet Sharon who had come with Dawn as she was on the Chinese Whispers that Dawn ran and I was sending the layout to her every month!

The first class that evening was 'The Heat is On' with Rebekah Day and we had some fun melting crayons onto our layouts... you did have to be quite careful that the wax didn't end up everywhere!

The shop then opens and it is a mad rush to get in and look at the new ranges... I picked up some of the lovely papers (my weakness!) and some matching embellishments.

More scrapping (and chatting and drinking) afterwards until 2am.

Saturday I kicked off with 'Madame Butterfly' taught by the lovely Sheena Rowland. We made our own 'Webster's Pages' style butterfly embellishments.

After lunch I had the fab Sam Ball teaching us her 'Mini Memories' class and it was all about doing things in miniature... a tiny album, 1.5" x 2.5" photos, a shrinky bee, mini embellishments (love the little pencils!).

Next it was onto Pam Thorburns 'Ties that Bind' class which was another mini album but of a slightly larger style than Sam's! We learnt the piano binding technique which looks very effective and one I will definitely be trying again.

Dinner break before our final class of the day and it was another one with Pam. This one was her 'Cutting Edge' class where we made our own stamps, one with string wrapped around a block of insulation foam and the next was a chevron pattern carved out from the same block.

More scrapping into the evening, though this time didn't last quite as long and it was up to bed around 1am.

Sunday comes round far too quickly... time for some scrapping after breakfast before the first class at 10am with Sam again, this time it was 'Once Upon a Time' and we made our own 'Websters Pages' style bookmark embellishments which looked amazing!

It was lunchtime already though it didn't feel that long since breakfast! Last meal together with the girls...

Final class of the day and this was with the newest GoGo girl, Louise Fortune and her 'Monochromatic Monograms' layout. Nice and straight forward for the last class which is only an hour, though it was very effective with the oversize title.

All in all another fab weekend... managed to get another 5 x layouts and 1 x challenge layout done as well as finishing off all my classes, a good result!  There were plenty of entries for the challenges over the weekend and they looked great displayed on the walls.

Lorraine and Janice do an amazing job organising the weekend and never fail to satisfy. The GoGo teachers and helpers are all lovely and very happy to help from early morning until late into the evening!

All over until October...

March Week 4 layout for Being Scrappy...

Hi Everyone!

I had the very pretty 'Rondelle Collection' papers from Kasiercraft to play with in this week's Being Scrappy Kit. I loved the 'Sovienne' paper with the script and flowers so hunted through my pics to find a suitable photo. I had a lovely one of Ellie's christening that was perfect.

This layout is very simple and doesn't use much of the Kit at all, there is plenty more for another layout, even two!

I used the 'Sovienne' paper as my base. Cut three strips of paper/Bazzill card, all approx. 0.75" wide and 9.75", 8.25" and 9.25" long. Layer these on the layout just at the top of the flowers. I added a doily from my own stash to my layout, but you could diecut a scalloped circle shape from card instead. Take a 6" x 4" photo and stick this down with the doily/die cut shape sat behind it to the right.

Add a strip of the pretty ribbon that comes with the Kit to the bottom of the photo and some gems to either side of the photo.

Then add a few embellishments to the top left of the layout, I used a few strips of paper and card, a piece of doily, one of the circles from the ribbon and some of the gems.

Finish off with a title, I used an Alpha from a previous Kit and one from my own stash.

Have a look at Niki's blog to see what fab layouts she has made with the Kit. You can buy the Kit from here for a limited time.

March Week 3 layout for Being Scrappy...

Morning Everyone!

In this week's Being Scrappy Kit I had the fab 'Note to Self' papers by Echo Park to play with, along with a bag of buttons and mini Alpha by Kaisercraft. The colour of the papers immediately made me think boy and I had some cute pics of Lee with his godson Oscar that even though not perfect photos did go great with the papers.

I used the 'Numbers' paper as the base for my layout. Then I cut a 5" x 12" piece of the blue Bazzill and stuck down. Add two 6" x 4" photos. Next cut the stripey strip from the 'Borders' paper and cut two pieces from it, 4.25" long and stick down to the right of the layout just to the top and bottom of the blue Bazzill. I then cut a selection of the border strips from the 'Borders' paper and added them to the top and bottom of the blue Bazzill.

Add your buttons, I had to tie some twine through mine (they can't be naked!). I also used a bit of washi tape from my own stash.

Finish off with a title, I used a combination of alphas from my own stash and the mini Alpha that you get with the Kit.

Do pop on over to Niki's blog here to see what she made with this week's Kit! The Kit can be purchased here for a limited time, do check out the great value subscription offer that is available.
