August Week 5 layout for Being Scrappy...

Hi Everyone!

Back with another layout from Being Scrappy and this week we had the colourful 'Hello Summer' range by Echo Park to work with... so picking a photo was easy as I had plenty from our trip to Disneyland Paris that would go perfectly! I ended up using a cute one of Lee's godson Oscar waiting for the Parade...

I used the green Bazzill for my base, but first gutted the centre leaving a frame of approx. 1". I then cut a piece of the spotty 'Bubbles' paper 11.5" x 11.5", and also gutted this leaving a frame of approx. 2". Finally I cut a 9" square from the green 'You've Been Flagged' paper and then stuck each of these down.

Attach a 7" x 5" portrait photo on a slant to the left side of the green paper.

I then cut a 12" strip of the cute banners from the 'You've Been Flagged' paper and a 12" strip of the yellow chevron 'Bubbles' paper and layered these up over the bottom of the photo.

Mount one of the journalling cards cut from the 'Journalling Cards' paper onto one of the coloured papers/cardstock of your choice. I then added the flowers to each corner with brads from my stash and attached this with foam pads to the layout.

Add a flower and another brad to the top left corner of the photo.

I finished off by adding a title using alphas from my stash!

This Kit is available for a short time at Be Scrappy... To see what else you could do with the Kit pop on over and visit Niki's blog.

Another layout...

Hi Everyone!

Hope you have all had a lovely relaxing Bank Holiday weekend, we visited friends down near Bath and had a great day out at Longleat Safari Park. Freddie our godson enjoyed it and for an almost 2 year old did very well considering we were there for over 8 hrs! I will post some photos soon...

Anyway I have another layout to share that I forgot to blog of my sister and her husband on their wedding day, I love this photo as they look so happy! I realised it went perfectly with some of the leftover 'Miss Caroline' papers by My Minds Eye from one of the Being Scrappy Kits.

Lots of layered embellishments, some were flower images fussy cut from the Being Scrappy Kit papers, and others were leftovers from previous ScrapaGoGo Kits...

The little lace flower was actually a ribbon strip that I cut into separate flowers...

Loved this American Crafts Thickers alpha 'Forest'...

August Week 4 layout for Being Scrappy...

Hi Everyone!

This week's Being Scrappy Kit contained some of the pretty Kaisercraft 'Lilac Avenue' papers, now I have to admit that purples are not really top of my list when I think of colours so these are always harder to work with! However I realised I had the perfect photo to go with them - our friend's little girl was wearing a purple top and had a yellow bib on which was spot on!

Now this is a nice and easy layout to make! I used the 'Violet' paper as the base for my layout. Cut a 9.25" x 7" piece of the 'Lavender' paper and before sticking down take a 9.25" strip of the purple Bazzill and punch a border. Attach this to the bottom of the 'Lavender' paper and then attach to your layout.

My photo is 5.75" x 4.75" which was mounted onto the yellow patterned 'Dandelion' paper and then the yellow Bazzill. Use the patterned border strip from the sheet of Kaisercraft diecuts and attach this to the bottom of your mounted photo, then stick this down onto your layout. You could use a different size photo or even more than one if that works better for you.

Then add your embellishments to the bottom left of your photo and the top left and bottom right of the layout. I used a mixture of the Kaisercraft diecuts and yellow ric-rac that came with the Kit, though I had to add a few buttons and twine from my own stash!

Finally add a title, again I used alphas from my own stash.

This Kit will be available for a limited time from Be Scrappy. Don't forget to pop on over to Niki's blog to see what she did with the Kit!

Again I pulled out one of my new stamp sets 'Just Believe' which I have liked for a long time and don't know why I didn't get it sooner!

A close up of the detail, I coloured the stamp with the Stampin' Write Markers and then spritzed with some water which gives it a watercolour type effect when stamped.

Markers: Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Yellow
Ink: Calypso Coral

August Week 3 layout for Being Scrappy...

 Hi Everyone!

This week's Kit from Being Scrappy featured some of the striking papers from the Prima 'Doodle-Deux' collection. I went through my photos and found this one of me with my mum and dad when they were here in the UK on holiday after Lee and I were married 2 years ago. The colours of all our coats went with the papers perfectly!

I used the grid/patterened side of the 'Lucky Charms' paper as my base but firstly cut the selvedge off this and the other patterned paper as we will use them later. Now I did gut a small piece from the centre of the 'Lucky Charms' paper however I suggest you do this once you have all of your other papers and photo arranged so you know exactly where you can cut it out!

Cut a 4" x 8"piece from the black swirled 'Doodle-Up' paper, making sure the black swirls are running down the long length. Then cut a piece 4.5" x 8.5" from the mustard pattern side of the same paper.

Mount your photo onto a piece of the red Bazzill, my pic was a 7" x 5" cut down to 6.5" x 4.5". Now layer this and the other patterned papers onto your layout base so you can work out how much you can gut from it. Once you have done that cut two pieces from it, 1" x 2.5" and 2" x 7.25". Now you can layer all of the cut patterned papers and the mounted photo and stick them down.

Then I cut a strip of the orange Bazzill 9.5" x 1.5" and used a border punch along one edge, attach this below your photo. Now you can use the two selvedge strips layered up over the orange Bazzill, I cut them both 10" long.

I then punched some flowers and layered them up at the bottom left corner and top right corner of my photo, I did have to add a button and twine from my stash to finish each of them off!

Finally add some journalling with the smaller Prima alphas that come with your Kit to below the photo, and the larger ones to the top for your title.

This Kit is available for a limited time here, do pop on over to Being Scrappy to see what else Niki did with these papers.

'Thinking Inking' cards...

Hi Everyone!

Just thought I would post the cards I made at Niki's 'Thinking Inking' class on Thu night, as you will see lots of stamping, distressing and inking...

We started off with a more simple card...

Love the chandelier stamped over the script stamp...

Our final card was slightly more detailed...

We layered up 4 diecut flowers, that was then inked all over, stamped and then inked on the edges...

Lots of detail here too... punched with the notepad edge punch, rounded the corners with a corner punch, stamped firstly with the message stamp then over that with the splatter stamp, layered the words, added a greeting stamp and finished off with some staples...

We've arrived!
