We went for a walk around the grounds (it is a championship golf course) while waiting for our rooms to be ready and came across this lovely cottage... it was the birthplace of George Stephenson who was the civil and mechanical engineer who built the first public railway line in the world to use steam locomotives. There was a really nice National Trust guide on hand and she told us some lovely stories about his life while we had a look around the one room that was his home!
Enjoying some yummy afternoon tea at the cottage...
So onto race day in central Newcastle... this was Lee looking nice and fresh at the start...
And this was it looking rather full...
After we left Lee we managed to get on the bridge at the start of the race, not that I could see too much!
The Red Arrows doing a fly over the start line... the sky was looking very grey at this point!
And the first runners were off...
A rather wet Lee at the end of the race in South Shields, it poured down in the last 10 mins which was a little unlucky. But he was very happy to finish in a personal best time of 1 hr 38mins!
Blue skies again!
The Red Arrows did a fab acrobatic display at the finish, but they were too fast to photo on my little automatic though I did snap a pic of this heart shape that they left behind...
As the weather had turned out so nice we went for a walk along the beach...
So all in all a lovely weekend!
Thanks for looking,
Kirei x
